U.S. CPI rose 0.4% in August; annual rate at 2.9%

BLS reported headline consumer prices rose 0.4% in August and rose 2.9% over 12 months. Core CPI, excluding food and energy, rose 0.3% on the month and rose 3.1% over the year.
